Every commerce student dreams of becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA) one day. CA Foundation by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India helps the CA aspirants to achieve their goals. CA Foundation Exam is a must for the aspirants who want to carve a niche in the sector of business accounting.

What is CA Foundation?

CA Foundation is a national level exam conducted in June & November/December. It is taken up by the candidates who are aspiring to become Chartered Accountants in India. It was formerly known as CA Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT).

In compliance with the Chartered Accountants Regulations 1988, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts and administers CA Foundation Exam twice every year.

Results: The Results for CA Foundation Exam will be tentatively published within 3-4 weeks after the exam is completed. Your score is considered valid for 3 years.

Correction Window: If you have made a mistake in the application form, ICAI will provide a correction window and in this period you can change the mistakes.

CA Foundation 2020 Eligibility

The aspirants must have passed 10+2 level (Senior Secondary) qualifying examination from a national or state-recognized Board of Secondary Education in India. The aspirants are required to register/ switch over to Common Proficiency Course with Board of Studies (BoS) of ICAI. They should do this before October 2, 2020.

Candidates should get his/her registration to Common Proficiency Course re-validated in case it has been three years from their CA Foundation registration. This is because CA Foundation course registration has a validity of three years.

Basic eligibility criteria for CA Foundation Exam is given below:

CA foundation is the entrance exam of ca course. It is same as cpt but it is different in some aspects.

There will be four papers in ca foundation exam -

(1) Accounts -100 marks ( subjective) a little changes has been made in the syllabus of accounts. So dont worry about it.

(2) Mercentile law-( 60 marks ) , 2 new chapters will be added i.e. THE LLP ACT 2008 AND THE COMPANY ACT 2013.

English- (40marks) subjective. Only the class 10 to 12 class english basics. (Means english and mercentile law will be of 100 marks.) Now, (3) qa ( business maths and logical reasoning ) - 60 marks.

And statistics-40 marks .(means business maths, logical reasoning and statistics will be of 100 marks ) ***objective type .

Now ,economics -60 marks (in which macro and indian economic development has been removed) and business -40 marks ** objective type questions.

  • A student can register with boards of studies after apearing in class 12
  • A student can give the exam after clearing class 12.
  • According to the new rule the exams will be held in may and nov every year.
  • In each paper student have to score 40 % and 50 % in aggregate.
